Flora Widner Rose

Funeral services for Flora Widner Rose, age 87, were Thursday, September 14, 1972, at 2:00 p.m. in the Gageby Church. The Rev. Donald Bynum, The Reverend William Fillingim and the Reverend Sandford Cole officiated.
Interment was in Heart cemetery, Booker, Texas under the direction of The Good Samaritan Funeral Service.
Flora Rose was born March 27, 1885, near Coldwater, Kansas, to Mr. and Mrs. John Widner.
She moved with her parents in a covered wagon to north Texas. They settled on a farm in Lipscomb county where she grew to womanhood and attended the local school.
She taught school in Lipscomb County. She married William Rose on August 28, 1910, in Lipscomb County. They made their home in the Booker Community. He passed away in 1946. After his passing, she made her home near Briscoe.
She has resided in a nursing home in Shamrock for the past year.
Mrs. Rose passed away in the Shamrock General Hospital on September 11, 1972.
Survivors are two sons, Virgil Rose of Midwest City, Oklahoma; and Houston Rose, of Pierre, South Dakota; eight daughters, Mrs. Elmo Rives of Parkdale, Oregon; Mrs. Vea Fillingim of Wheeler, Texas; Mrs. Faye Sell of Claremore, Oklahoma; Mrs. Elton Fillingim of Tucson, Arizona; Mrs. Gay Andler of Decatur, Alabama; Mrs. Eda Bynum of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; thirty six grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; and numerous friends.
