Andrew Daniel Rice was taken away in death last Sunday afternoon, June 20.
He was born in Indiana on September 6, 1837.
He married Miss Amanda Wilson. Three children were born to this union, two of whom are now living.
His first wife died in 1874, and he married in 1885, Miss Sarah Elizabeth Foster who died in 1913. Of this union there were born two children, both of whom are now living.
One of them is Edden D. Rice of Strong City; and Miss Delia Ann Rice of Amber, Oklahoma.
Mr. Rice lived with his son Ed Rice, and they moved to Strong City only a few months ago.
The old gentleman had been confined to his bed most of the time since here. He would have been 81 years old if he had lived to his next birthday.
Mr. Rice had lived a Christian life for a long number of years and was a member of the Methodist church.
Wherever he had lived during his long life he was always honored and respected as a good and worthy citizen. He had spent a life of usefuless, and many times expressed his willingness to depart this life and step into a better world; as he has now gone as one who has faithfully fulfilled his mission upon earth.
Rev. Small conducted the funeral services which were held at the Baptist church where the relatives, friends and neighbors gathered to pay the last respect to the departed.
