Services for David G. Petersen, age 50, of Snyder, Texas were held Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at The Word is Life Church with Rev. Tony Wofford, Pastor and Rev. Walter McCall, Odyssey Hospice Chaplain officiating burial in Hillside Memorial Gardens directed by Bell-Cypert Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Petersen died Sunday, June 22, 2003 at Cogdell Memorial Hospital in Snyder, Texas after a lengthy illness.
He was born October 11, 1952 in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Mr. Petersen married Dorothy Gauss Fisher on May 24, 1990 in Snyder, Texas.
He graduated from Reydon High School in 1970. He attended Oklahoma State University, receiving a BS and MS in Agricultural Engineering in 1976. He also obtained a pilots license in 1976.
He was an engineering research scientist at Kansas State University, then worked at Phillips Petroleum where he became an Enviromental Engineer. In 1981 he went back to school at the University of Oklahoma and received a B.S. in petroleum engineering in 1982. He was also a research assistant while there.
He was a field engineer for Gulf Oil in Vernal, Utah and a production engineer in Rangely, Colorado for Chevron. He transferred to Snyder in 1990 and continued with Chevron and then Pennsoil until 1998. He was an Engineer for Primrose Inc. until 1999.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Snyder, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Brian Fields of Fort Worth, Texas; son Bryan of Phoenix, Arizona; brother and sister-in-law, John and Teresa Peterson of Pawnee, Oklahoma; three nieces, Tracy, Jill and Christy; and the cat, Sally; as well as other relatives and numerous friends.
Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society, Scrurry Unit, P.O. Box 1356, Snyder, Texas 79550-1396.
