Submitted by: Wanda Purcell

Helle Lykke Males was born in Grenaa, Denmark on February 11, 1942 to school superintendent Richard and Greta Lykke Hansen and passed away unexpectedly at her home in Edmond, Oklahoma on 22 January 2011.
After she completed the "Gymnasium" in Denmark, she married James L. Males and moved to the United States in 1962.

The family lived in Oklahoma, North Carolina, Germany and finally settled down in Edmond in 1974.

Helle became a US citizen as soon as she could.
Wherever she was, she made a home for the family, always "cozy" in the Danish tradition.
Helle was the mother of two sons, Mikael Lowell Males of Edmond; and the late Henrik Lowell Males; stepdaughter, Kelly Males; and four lovely grandchildren, Nadia Marie Males, Hunter Lykke Males, Emelia Fisher and Logan Woods.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Hans Lykke Hansen; and son, Henrik.
She is survived by her sister, Kirstin Philp of Copenhagen, Denmark.
Helle graduated from Oklahoma City University with a degree in Liberal Arts and later acquired a Master's Degree in Spanish and later in Interior Design from the University of Central Oklahoma.
She was a concert pianist at the age of 10.
She loved to travel and she was fluent in several languages.
She was devoted to her home, her family, and her beloved dogs.
Helle was deeply loved and touched the hearts of all who knew her.
It was Helle's wish to have her ashes returned to Denmark and spread over the sea surrounding the island of Zealand.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Baggerley Funeral Home.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to The Jesus House in Oklahoma City through www.Jesushouseokc.org or at Jesus House, PO Box 60369 OKC, OK 73146.
