Rufus S. Davis

Rufus S. Davis was born September 27, 1874 in Calhoun County, Mississippi and departed this life February 15, 1947.

When two years of age he moved with his parents to Arkansas and while still a young man united with the Methodist Church.

He became a member of the Masonic Lodge.

After growing to manhood he met and was married to Belle McDaniels and to this union twelve children were born. She and one child preceded him in death.

In May, 1921, he was married to Mrs. Lucy Mount and to this union three children were born, two dying in infancy.

The family moved to Reydon in 1929 where they have resided ever since.

Those surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lucy Davis; twelve children, Olin Z. Davis of Mena, Arkansas; Omar Davis of Monticello, California; Thomas S. Davis of Smithville, Oklahoma; Oma E. Filmore of Glenwood, Oregon; Dortha Mitchell of Pine Grove, California; Calley Hensley of Downey, California; Sherman E. Davis of Huntington Park, California; Rachel House of Hatfield, Arkansas; Jessimon Frazier of Medford, Oregon; Alma White of Dumas, Texas; Elma Spaulding of San Pedro, California and Sylvanus R. Douglas of Reydon, Oklahoma; also three step-children, Mrs. Daphine Sanford of Reydon; Mrs. R. L. Deardorff of Los Angeles and Bennett B. Butler, also of Los Angeles; and 48 grandchildren.

Services were held at Reydon, Oklahoma in the community building at 2:00 p.m., February 18, 1947. Fatheree Funeral Home was in charge of the services.

The remains were sent to Mena, Arkansas for burial.
