Joe "Jody" Wendle Ballard

Funeral services for Joe "Jody" Wendle Ballard, 77, long-time resident of Rocky Ford, Colorado, was held at 10:00 a.m., Monday at Ustick-Donelson Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Chipman officiating. Music was provided by Betty Jo Thomas and Keith Waggoner.

Mr. Ballard passed away Thursday, at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center where he had been hospitalized for 5 weeks for treatment of a respiratory condition.

He was born September 8, 1910 in Rankin, Oklahoma to Wilbert and Lillie Mae Farnsworth Ballard.

He was a retired Comptroller for Bray Lines, Inc.; was a deacon emeritus of First Baptist Church and served on the board of directors for Rocky Ford Federal Credit Union, including one term as president. He also served as an investment officer for a period of time.

He is survived by his widow, Rae Ballard of the home; two daughters, Betty Jo Ness of Cedaredge; and Pat Hotchkiss of Cucamonga, California; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two brothers, Royal Ballard of Altus, Oklahoma; and Kenneth Ballard of Wewoka, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by one brother, one sister and his parents.

Burial was in the Rocky Ford Cemetery with Ustick-Donelson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
