Joe Lynn Wilkins, 90, of Kiowa, Oklahoma passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center in Ada. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m.to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 10, 2022 at Chaney Harkins Funeral Home in McAlester. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church of Kiowa with Brother Jim Ray officiating. The burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in McAlester. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Kiowa United Methodist Church, 476 S. Van Buren Street, Kiowa, Oklahoma 74553 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 or stjude.org. Pallbearers will be Jeb Wilkins, Michael Manry, Trent Doyle, Clay Doyle, Ryan Wilkins, and Chyenne Manry. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Dobbs, Pete Echelle, Rod Wilkins, Drake Wilkins, Zachary Manry, Shane Harmon, and Chase Manry. Joe was born on October 24, 1931 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Clyde D. Wilkins and Bessie (Godfrey) Wilkins. Joe graduated from Kiowa High School with the Class of 1949. He married Mary Doyle in January of 1951. Joe worked on the pipeline in Alaska with his son, Ronnie, owned and operated Joe & Mary's Drive-In in Kiowa, a pipe rental business with his brother; trained race horses, retired from OSP as an accountant, and lastly as a rancher. Joe was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kiowa, and also a Mason. He is preceded in death by his wife: Mary (Doyle) Wilkins; his parents: Clyde D. Wilkins and Bessie (Godfrey) Wilkins; his son: Kent Wilkins; his daughter-in-law; Jan Wilkins; two brothers: Royce Wilkins, and Gayler Wilkins; his brother-in-law: John Doyle; and an infant sister: Joann. Joe is survived by his daughter: Mary Jo Dobbins and husband, Bobby of Durant; his son: Ronnie Wilkins and wife, Sherrill of Kiowa; his grandchildren: JoLyn Manry and husband, Michael of Durant, Heather Dobbins of Durant, Amber Medina of Brownsville, TX, Beau Wilkins of McAlester, Jacy Dyson and husband, Corbin of Elk City, and Josh Wilkins of McAlester; his great grandchildren: Chyenne, Zachary, Chase, Shayne, Sophie, Ava, Drake, Mia, Halle, Ryan, and Austyn; along with numerous other family and friends. Joe was the great grandson of Chickasaw Nation original enrollee: Elvira Kieffer.
