Buron W. "Tom" Thomas, 76, of McAlester, passed away on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Oklahoma Heart Hospital North in Oklahoma City. Public viewing will be Wednesday, August 25th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 26th at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel in McAlester with OSTA Chaplain Sam Garner officiating. Burial with honors provided by the OHP Honor Guard will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in McAlester. Tom was born on April 26, 1945 in McAlester to B.W., Jr. and Kathryn E. (Blackwell) Thomas. He served in the United States Navy and married Shelia M. (Davenport) Grube on October 13, 1983 in McAlester. He graduated from Academy 37 and was a State of Oklahoma Trooper for 25 years retiring on June 1, 2004. Survivors include his wife, Shelia; sons, Bradley and wife Betty, Kevin and wife Amy; daughters, Jennifer (Thomas) Barnes and husband Jason, Janet Burns and husband John, and Jill Vogel and husband Denis; grandchildren, Callie Thomas, Kelsey, Brinley and Andrey Thomas, Ashlyn, Gage, and Briar Langford, Meaghan and Madilyn Burns; sister, Lyn Salyers; brother, Bill Thomas and wife Joyce. He was preceded in death by his parents, B.W. Thomas, Jr. and mother Kathryn E. Thomas. Active pallbearers will be Jim Bullock, Alfred McConathy, David Arnold, Tom Powers, David Tolman and Jeremy Tolman.
