Virginia Rea McAlister, 93, of Krebs, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at her home. Viewing will begin at 8:00 a.m., Friday morning with the family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2023 at the Bishop Chapel of Memories. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, McAlester. Pallbearers are Cody Greene, Seneca Scott, Bud Scott, Hayden Greene, Mark Sipe, and Ray "Peck" Kindred. Daughter of Phoebe Clay Kindred, an original enrollee of the Choctaw Nation, and Jim Frank Kindred, Sr., Virginia Rae McAlister was born on the 7th of February, 1930 in the Jack Fork Mountains of Weathers, Oklahoma and passed at her longtime home in Krebs after a morning of gardening on the 18th of July, 2023. A proud citizen of the Choctaw Nation and engaged member of Pittsburg County's civic community, Virginia was an avid gardener and congregant of New Haven Baptist Church. She was the last surviving sibling of Jack Moore of Weathers, Jim Kindred, Jr. of McAlester, Mildred Shaw of Buffalo Valley, and Myrtle Hopper of Albion. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband Ralph Dean McAlister, Sr., of Krebs, former husband Charles Edward Greene of Muse, and partner Francis "Sandy" Nobles of Clayton, and her youngest son, Hank Allen Greene of McAlester. As the family matriarch, Virginia is survived by her son Michael Don Greene and his wife Brenda of Sedona, Arizona, her son Carl Edward Greene of Stillwater, and her daughter Rita Kay Scott and her husband Mike of Tulsa; grandchildren Cody Greene of Aiken, South Carolina, Ashley Greene of McAlester, Seneca and Bud Scott of Tulsa, Hayden Greene of Tulsa, and Hulsey Greene of Stillwater, in addition to a wealth of cousins, nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and other kinfolk.
