Norma Jean (Brooks) Brannon, 90, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2026, at Bishop Chapel of Memories, officiated by Zane Brooks. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in McAlester. Pallbearers will be Edward Brooks, Micah Avery, Kelsie Counts, Tyler Cooper, Eddy Brooks, and Patrick McGuire. Norma Jean was born on October 10, 1935, in McAlester to William Benjamin and Dorothy Lucille (Thompson) Brooks. She married Bobby Gene "Bob" Brannon on July 3, 1955, and they shared more than sixty-four years of marriage before he preceded her in death on March 13, 2020. Norma and Bob made their home in Tahlequah beginning in 1970 before she later relocated to Arkansas. Norma was devoted to her family and treasured her role as a homemaker while her children were growing up. She later worked as a beautician and eventually became a teacher at Philadelphia Bible Center. A woman of deep faith, Norma was a longtime member of Philadelphia Bible Center Pentecostal Church of God in Tahlequah. She loved God wholeheartedly and was deeply devoted to her family. Norma Jean was known for her kind and gentle spirit. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and extended family, creating lasting memories through her love, warmth, and unwavering faith. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Thomas Benjamin and Maggie (Law) Brooks, and John and Laura Emil Thompson; her parents, William "Bill" and Dorothy Brooks; her husband, Bobby Gene "Bob" Brannon; daughters, Carolyn Moore and Cindy Belveal; son, Billy Martin Brannon; grandsons, Harley Chase, Shad Belveal, and Edgar Belveal III; brothers, Carl Brooks and Billy Brooks; and sister, Imogene Dismuke. Norma is survived by her daughter, Ginger Rowane of Mena, Arkansas; grandchildren, Ben Miller and wife Melissa, Simon Chase, Timothy Weese, Jeremy Tyler Cooper, Karensa Murdick and husband Greg, Cody Belveal, Chad Brannon, Rusty Ballard, and Dusty Ballard; numerous great-grandchildren; brother, Ed Brooks and wife Joanne of McAlester; along with many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. Though Norma will be deeply missed, her love, faith, and gentle presence will never be forgotten. Her family finds comfort in the promise that they will see her again in the sweet by and by.
