June (Cheek) Allen, 87, of McAlester, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at a local nursing center. Viewing will be on Friday from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 21st at Oak Hill Cemetery in McAlester with Chaplain Monte Busby officiating. Burial will follow. June was born on February 5, 1934 in Stringtown, Oklahoma to John Frank and Hartie Elizabeth (Neeley) Cheek. She married Edward C. Allen on June 26, 1973. She was a member of First Baptist Church in McAlester. She loved attending Sunday School and volunteering at Shared Blessings, packing nutrition bags for school children. She loved going to the “beauty shop” and continued to go every week until she was very ill. She loved spending time with her grandkids, watching them play sports and music. She loved people and loved to talk. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Christi Jane Walker and husband Scott; grandchildren, Landon Tate Walker and Micayla Hope Walker; twin sister, Joan Cheek; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews; great-nephews, Joshua Jeffrey, Jonathan Jeffrey and James Jeffrey. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Allen; sisters, Jane Cheek Perkins and Janice Cheek Jeffrey; nephews, Scott Jeffrey and John Jeffrey.
