Barbara "Bobbie" Ann Johnson, 79, formerly of McAlester, Oklahoma passed away at her home in Ada on Saturday, August 5, 2023. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at the Chaney Harkins Funeral Home Chapel. The burial will follow at Arpelar Cemetery. Bobbie was born on March 19, 1944 in Antioch, California to Woodrow Wilson Cunningham and Ruth LaVerne (Arpelar) Cunningham. Bobbie owned and operated the infamous Gorilla Store in Krebs from 1982 to 2000. She then worked for Jones Academy for a couple of years as a dormitory mother, and then 5 years at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant in production until her full retirement in 2007. She is survived by her two sons: Woodrow Morgan of Ada, and Bruce Books of McAlester; her grandchildren: Danielle Morgan and Ivan Medina, Casey Morgan and Megan Morgan, Toni Fourkiller, Cheyenne Barker, Jeromy Barker, Jennifer Books, Justin Brooks, Brent Brooks, Jr., and Austin Brooks; her favorite cousin: Mike Pitchland of Bartlesville; and numerous great grandchildren, cousins and other family and friends. Bobbie is preceded in death by her son: Brent Brooks, Sr; her daughters: Eugenia Morgan, and Ronda Barker; her parents: Woodrow and Ruth Cunningham; her grandmother: Lottie Brock; and uncle: Clarence Arpelar.
