Madaline A. "Madge" Meeker

CUSHING - Madge Meeker, 89 had lived in Cushing for more than 60 years and worked at Cushing Hospital before retirement in 1976. She died Thursday, Aug. 21, 1977, at Cushing Regional Hospital.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, at First Christian Church, with the Rev. Bill Shaw, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stillwater under the direction of Davis Funeral Home, Cushing.

Mrs. Meeker was born Dec. 3, 1907, in Winfield, Kan., to Charles M. and Bennie Anson Lewis.

She was reared and educated in the Winfield area and later in Ralston and Fairfax area, graduating from Ralston High School.

On Nov. 22, 1927, she married Oakley E. Meeker in Wellington, Kan. He died March 7, 1959.

She was a longtime member of First Christian church.

Mrs. Meeker was also predeceased by one daughter, Margaret Schultz; an infant son; three brothers, David Lewis, Claudie Lewis and Garland Lewis and one sister Evelyn Rosson.

Survivors include one son, James E. Meeker of Cushing, her stepmother, Rebecca Lewis; eight brothers and sisters, Jack Lewis, Mary Jane Mitchell, Mike Lewis, Patsy Williams, Margie Wright, Larry Lewis, Earl Boatman and Joe Boatman. Also four grandchildren, Sherry Brown, Claire Grabbiak, Jim Schultz and Jane Curtis; five great-grandchildren; Amy Meeker, Erik Brown, Lauri Grabbiak, Melissa Grabbiak and Kent Curtis, several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
