Mr. Eugene Alexander Witt, 73, a longtime area resident, died at 7:50 a.m. on Wednesday at his home north of Dewey.

Funeral services for Mr. Witt will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday in the Silverlake Baptist Church. His son, Rev. Martin G. "Bud" Witt will be the officiant. Committal prayers and interment will be directed in the Ethel Reece Cemetery, Barnsdall, Okla. by The Arnold Moore Funeral Service. Full military rites will be directed at the graveside.

Eugene will lie in state in the Drawing Rooms of The Arnold Moore Funeral Residence where friends may call for their visitation until he is removed to the church for final rites on Saturday morning.

Eugene Alexander Witt was born December 24, 1930 at Nelagoney, Osage Co., Oklahoma. He was the son of Oather Martin Witt and Eva A. (Rowden) Witt. Eugene was reared and received his education in the Nelagoney schools. Following his high school graduation, Eugene attended the Northeastern State College at Tahlequah, Okla. and received his Bachelor of Science Degree. He was enlisted in the U. S. Army on May 23, 1952 and served in both Japan and Korea until his honorable discharge on May 13, 1954. He had also served in the U. S. Army Reserves. Eugene began his employment with the Phillips Petroleum Co. in 1956 in the Gas Accounting Department. He and the former Freda Lorene Keller were united in marriage on March 21, 1968 and they made their home in Barnsdall. In 1976, they moved to Bartlesville. Eugene was retired from the Phillips Petroleum Co. in 1988. Freda preceded him in death on April 25, 2004.

Eugene was a member of the Silverlake Baptist Church where he played the keyboard.

Surviving are three sons, Oather E. Witt and wife, Melanie, Kerrville, Texas, Alan R. Witt and wife, Pam, Barnsdall, Okla. and Martin G. "Bud" Witt and wife, Brenda, Dewey, Okla.; two daughters, Ms. Tanya Halford, Barnsdall, Okla. and Lisa Delaloye and husband, Stephen, Bartlesville, Okla.; a sister, Mrs. Phyllis Fager, Tulsa, Okla.; his grandchildren, Robert Delaloye, Melissa Delaloye, Amber Key, Rebel Halford, Sarah Elneser, Randy Witt, Gary Witt, Becky "BJ" Witt, Alan Witt, Rachel Witt, Abigail Witt, Micah Witt, Joseph Witt and Patricia Witt; and great grandchildren, Isaiah Key, Chad Witt and Isabelle Elneser. Preceding him in death were his father; mother; wife, Freda; son, Carl Leon Witt and a grandson, Caleb Alan Witt.
