Gladys Nell Shreffler, 87, of Barnsdall, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017. Gladys was born to John Isaac and Mintoria (Walker) Leard on October 14, 1929 in Wellington, Texas.

She attended Whitewright High School, in Whitewright, Texas, until graduating in 1947. Gladys married Charles Shreffler in Fort Worth Texas on June 7, 1951. The couple moved throughout the country while Charles was in the Air Force before settling down in Barnsdall in December of 1954. The couple fostered 109 children throughout 48 years.

Gladys' hobbies were collecting dolls, her family and caring for needy children.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Shreffler Sr.; parents John and Mintoria Leard of Lebanon, Oregon; brothers William Leard of San Jose, California, James Leard of Lebanon, Oregon, Robert Leard of Pendleton, Oregon, Kenneth Leard of Albany, Oregon; sister Pauline O'Jarso of Coos Bay, Orgeon; son Charles (Chuck) Shreffler of Ochelata, Oklahoma; one infant son and one infant brother.

Gladys is survived by David Shreffler and wife Linda of Pryor, Oklahoma; Brenda (Shreffler) Hollenbeck and husband Rick of Ochelata, Oklahoma; James (Jim) Yarber and wife Lisa of Barnsdall, Oklahoma; daughter Pamela Todd and husband Clark of Barnsdall, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers John Leard and wife Sharon of Lebanon, Oregon, Ray Leard of Lebanon, Orgeon and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive guests at Stumpff Barnsdall Funeral Home on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 10:00 am at Bible Holiness Church in Barnsdall, Oklahoma with interment to follow at Ethel Reece Cemetery.
