William “Wil” Russell McCauley, 38, of Fayetteville, AR, died Tuesday in Fayetteville.

William “Wil” Russell McCauley, 38, of Fayetteville, AR, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2020, in Fayetteville. His adventurous spirit guided him through life and he will be dearly missed.

Wil was born the son of Walter Russell and Claudia (McLaughlin) McCauley on December 16, 1981, in Tulsa, OK. The family lived in Barnsdall, OK, where Wil grew up and attended school. He participated in school activities and sports, playing basketball and football. His athletic honors included being selected for all-state in basketball, as well as serving as quarterback and captain of the Panthers football team. After graduating with the Barnsdall High Class of 2000, Wil went on to Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK, where he graduated with a degree in Biology in 2006. He furthered his education at the Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, KS, graduating in 2010 with his Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Wil practiced in several locations including Bentonville, AR; Kansas; Colorado; Savannah, Georgia; and currently, Fayetteville.

Wil had a charismatic personality and he loved spending time outdoors. From an early age Wil developed a passion for hunting and fishing with his father. He enjoyed nature and oftentimes took hikes with Rex, his rescue dog. Wil was physically fit and enjoyed living a healthy lifestyle which he also shared, as a personal trainer, with others. Wil traveled widely and enjoyed many vacations including one special trip to Greece. Most recently Wil took an interest in hunting arrowheads on his hiking trips.

Wil is survived by his parents, Walter Russell McCauley of Barnsdall, and Claudia McCauley of Grove; sister Brianna Hibdon and husband Adam of Bartlesville; nephew Henry, nieces Anna Bella, Abigail and Berkley; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. McCauley Sr., maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Claude McLaughlin, and Uncle Russell McLaughlin.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 10-8 and Saturday 9-12, at the Davis Family Funeral Home – Walker Brown Chapel.

Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, at the Ethel Reece Cemetery East. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home – Walker Brown Chapel. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com.
