Submitted by: Ann Weber

Robert Melvin Infield, age 85, most fondly known as “Bob”, was born to Melvin and Mary Ester (Cullison) Infield January 25, 1932 in Earlsboro, OK. When he was 8 months old, his family moved to Barnsdall, OK, where he grew up, received his education and graduated with the class of 1950. On September 22, 1950, he married Delores Ann Smith, here in the Barnsdall Christian Church. They were blessed with three children, Darrell Wayne, Rose Ann and Robert Michael.

While he was still in high school he worked for Cox and Hamon. In 1950 he moved his family to Shidler, OK to work for Phillips Petro Co. in the oil field. In 1960 they moved back to Barnsdall and he worked at Phillips in Bartlesville in research (rubber and plastic) until he retired in September of 1992.

He served in the National Guard for about 10 years in the anti-aircrafts division. He served on the Barnsdall City council for 29 years. He was a licensed Ham Radio operator, which was his hobby.

In 1960 he completely surrendered his life to the Lord. He was a man of real faith letting his light shine wherever he went. God told him to carry on a message for an old saint who went to heaven which was: “God is not dead at this time.”, and he gave it everywhere he went. Dr. Tinker asked him if he was afraid to die and he pointed to heaven and said “No, I have a future.” He loved to give to the Lord, and the Independence Bible School had a special place in his heart.

He is survived by his wife, Delores of the home; one son, Darrell Wayne and wife, Pam Infield of Barnsdall, OK; one daughter, Rose Ann Zamora of Denver, CO; four grandchildren, Michael Swalley and wife, Heather; Rebecca Connor; April Abercrombie and husband, Brock; Cody Cooper and wife, Devin: 5 great grandchildren; one brother, Joe Infield; one sister, Joyce Gilbert; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald Infield; and one son, Robert Michael Infield.

Service: 2:00 P.M. Wednesday March 22, 2017 at Barnsdall Christian Church under the direction of Barnsdall Stumpff Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Ethel Reece Cemetery at Barnsdall.
