Howard William Engel, 71 of Barnsdall passed away Saturday, October 7th, at the Journey Home hospice house in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Howard William Engel was born on August 16, 1946 in Anchorage, Alaska. He grew up in Pawhuska, Oklahoma and graduated from Pawhuska High School in 1965. He married Nancy Kay (Swift) Engel on February 5th, 1966 in Barnsdall, Oklahoma.

Howard started his career with Reda Pump (Schlumberger) at the age of 19 where we worked as an electrical winder. After 42 years of dedicated service he elected to retire. Not only was Howard a dedicated employee there but he also served honorably in the Oklahoma National Guard for 23 years, where we he retired as a Staff Sargent.

Howard was a member of the Bartlesville American Legion and the Barnsdall Church of the Nazarene. Through the years, he served in many roles at his church.

Howard loved listening to 50's and 60's rock n roll music, spending time outdoors camping, fishing and shooting as well as traveling the country with his family.

Howard is survived by his two sons Dwayne Engel, Brian Engel & his wife Jenny Engel of Bartlesville and his sister Naomi (Mardi) Engel of Barnsdall. He was blessed by his cousins, nieces, great nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Howard was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years Nancy Kay (Swift) Engel.
