Iona Clark, longtime resident of Barnsdall, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2012 in Midwest City Regional Hospital, Midwest City, OK.

 

She was 99 years of age. Iona was born December 2, 1912 in Lodge, Texas to Sebe and Lee (Watson) Jeter. At a very young age, the family moved to Barnsdall, where she was raised and received her education, graduating from Barnsdall High School with the Class of 1931.

On December 25, 1944, she and Raymond Clark were united in marriage in Barnsdall and made their home there. Her husband Raymond passed away in 1975, a year after retiring from Bareco. Iona worked for many years as a sales clerk for Sally Blevins at Blevins Arcade. She was a longtime member of the Barnsdall First Baptist Church and the Eastern Star. She enjoyed traveling and had been to 49 of the 50 states. Iona always had a bag packed and could be ready to go somewhere in a moment's notice. She also enjoyed embroidery, quilting and doing puzzles.

      

Those that survive  and hold many cherished memories are her: Children – Bonnie Napier and husband Archie of Oklahoma City, OK Dean Monigold and wife Jane of Broken Arrow, OK Berle Clark and wife Linda of Barnsdall, OK One sister – Maxine Hugo of Eureka, Kansas Nine grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 24 great great grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Iona was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Cleo Jeter and two great great grandchildren Noah Jones and Slade Henderson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2012 in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church, Barnsdall with Rev. Kent Sparks and Rev. Tom Cox officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Brock Clark, Ronnie Monigold, Chris Marshall, Ross Walker, Ryan Walker and Jay Roberds. Burial will follow at the Ethel Reece Cemetery, Barnsdall. Visitation will be Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
