Submitted by: Ann Weber

Rose L. Beavers, 74, of Bartlesville went to her Heavenly home Thursday, March 31, 2016.

Rose was born the daughter and only child of Claud Leonard Newcomb and Pauline (Monks) Newcomb on March 10, 1942, in Calhoun, Le Flore County, OK. The family moved to Ochelata and Rose completed her schooling there. Rose joined Jane Phillips Hospital in 1963 where she obtained her LPN license. When the opportunity arose for LPNs to go back to school, Rose attended Rogers State College while still working. In 1992 she earned an Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) and became a Registered Nurse. She continued working at the local hospital in many different departments until her retirement in 2005. Over her 40-plus year nursing career, Rose cared for thousands of patients and families in the community.

She met the love of her life Bill Beavers at church when a coworker of his played matchmaker. They were married five years later on Sept. 24, 1972, and had one son Steven. They lived in Dewey for a short time after they married, then moved to Rockwood Ave. in Bartlesville.

The greatest passions in Rose's life centered on her family and her son. She faithfully and lovingly cared for her aging parents, aunt and her husband Bill. Rose loved history, particularly genealogy, and she was proud her family could trace their ancestors back to the Mayflower. She often encouraged her husband and son to go to car, tractor and gun shows, and she used the quiet time to work on her genealogy. Like her newsman husband Bill, Rose loved to read … Rose loved the Lord from a very young age and raised her son to do the same. Rose will be dearly missed by those who loved her and knew her as a caring friend, colleague and nurse.

Rose is survived by her beloved son, Steven and his wife Jennifer, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill last June and her parents. Rose's family will receive friends at the Davis Family Funeral Home, 918-534-3030, 113 S. Osage (Hwy. 75), Dewey, on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, her family wishes contributions be made to Bartlesville Genealogical Society, C/O Bartlesville Public Library, 600 S. Johnstone, Bartlesville, OK 74003. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at the Davis Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Greg McNall and Rev. Edward Cunningham officiating. Interment will follow at the Ethel Reese Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared with Rose's family at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com.
