Delta S. (Freeze) Wear was born to Arlie and Pearl Freeze on May 8th, 1937 in the small farming town of Mountain View OK. The fourth daughter born to the family she was given her name which is the number 4 in the Greek alphabet. Growing up in a rural community has its challenges but also has it opportunities, those being learning the value of work and discipline towards a common goal, which was survival. There was always something to do and from a young age Delta always jumped in without complaint to be a good hand to her beloved Mother and Daddy. Chopping and picking cotton while dragging the huge sack behind her to separating and churning butter after milking the family cow. All through her life Delta gave great devotion to family care and its welfare. On rare occasions when there was free time, she and her older sister Cleta would walk down a dirt road and they noticed a mail box which had on it the name W.E. Wear. However, there was no punctuation on that box, so these two girls would say “it’s where the ‘WEWears’ lived”. Little did she know that there was a guy living in that “wewear” house that would be her husband of 52 years. On September 22nd, 1951 Delta married Eddie B Wear in Carnegie OK, with Eddie’s brother Eugene and his wife Letha being the witnesses to this event. Soon after their wedding Eddie received a greeting from his Uncle Sam and was inducted into the US Army for a 2-year stint. After his release from service, they made their home, for a time, in West Texas during an oil boom but soon returned to Oklahoma City where they made their home. Delta did some occasional work including being a candy striper at a local hospital. On April 30th, 1958 they welcomed their first child, Regina Denise Wear. They enjoyed their baby girl and eventually bought a home in the S.E. side of Oklahoma City. Life was cozy for them and in a few years they contemplated buying another home, but in 1965 on April 17th that changed as they welcomed their second child, a son named Darrin Kent Wear. Through blessings and heartaches, times of plenty and the lean times too, Delta always had a shoulder to cry on or a smile if you needed it. Whatever came up she was ready to help. Helping her Daddy weigh and keep track of the cotton from an early age, always being there for her husband, her children and their spouses and her grandchildren, being a good sister to her many siblings, Delta was always there for friends and family to offer any assistance she could. That was her gift. She was a helper, in many ways.

Delta was preceded in death by her parents, Arlie and Pearl, her husband Eddie, one brother Gene Freeze, four sisters Maxine Fuchs, Arline Mitchell, Cleta Wooldridge and Glenda Ward.

She is survived by one sister, Lynda Moore of Goldsby OK. Also, her daughter Denise and husband Darrel Deal of Harrah, OK and her son Darrin and wife Debbie of Washington. Three grandchildren, Jason and Becky Deal of OKC, OK, Ryan and Monica Deal of Denver Colorado, and Kati and Neil Howell of Portland Maine. Two great grandsons, Jonas Deal, son of Jason and Becky and Truman Deal, son of Ryan and Monica.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Monday, December 21, 2020, at Little’s Chapel, Wilson Little, Purcell. The service will be livestreamed on our website, www.wilsonlittle.com, and our Facebook page, Wilson Little.
