Bettye Vaughn, age 76 of Purcell, passed away Monday, August 04, 2014, at her home. Bettye Lou Hackney was born June 21, 1938 in Purcell, OK. She was one of ten children born to William Dee Hackney and Lou Ada (Hall) Hackney. Bettye was raised in Purcell and attended school in Purcell. At the age 16 she married the love of her life, Jimmy Ray Vaughn on July 15, 1954 and made their home in the Woody Chapel area. Living on the family farm they raised three sons, Johnny, Steve and Willie. Bettye worked hard as a homemaker, caring and providing for her family. She also worked side by side with JR in his farming operation and milked cows in the dairy operation. She loved to sew and was a gifted artist who especially enjoyed painting. She also enjoyed going to area yard sales where she liked looking for a good deal. She was a member of the Iron Chapel Free Will Baptist Church for many years. Bettye was a wonderful mother and grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and a good friend. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by: Her husband, JR Vaughn; Her parents, William D. and Lou Ada Hackney; A sister, Noveline Followell and 4 brothers, James, John, Ed and Joe Hackney;

Bettye leaves behind: Her sons, Johnny Vaughn and wife Lorri of Norman, Steve Vaughn and wife Debbie of Purcell and Willie Vaughn of Purcell; Mark Stidham of Purcell Brother, Tom Hackney and wife Betty of Chickasha; 4 sisters, Cordelia Estes of Purcell, Jean Sawyer of Enid, Hazel Arnold of Purcell and Jacqueline Reed and husband Harold Paul of Dibble; Grandchildren, Erica Salazar, Carrie Young and husband Jeremy, Emily Stinnett and husband Larry, James Vaughn and wife Jamie, Troy Bates, Rachel Pieper and husband Ryan, Stevie Vaughn and wife Heather, and Justin Vaughn; 15 great grandchildren; Several nieces and nephews, her long-time friend, Bill Harmon, and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery.
