Bill Stone, age 81 of Purcell, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017.

William Franklin Stone was born April 28, 1936 in Lindsay, OK, the oldest of 3 children born to Claudie Addison Stone and Anna Florence (Newkirk) Stone. He was raised all over McClain County, spending time in Wayne, Washington and Purcell. Bill joined the United States Air Force and served his country proudly. On June 2, 1961, Bill married his best friend and life partner, Iva Ann Lindell, at the 7th & Monroe Church of Christ in Purcell. For a short time, Bill and Iva made their home in Carlsbad, NM, followed by stints in Plainview, TX and later Pueblo, CO, before settling back home in Purcell. Together they raised two children, daughter, Kathy and son, Curtis. Bill was a hard worker and a great provider. He repaired TV’s for Sears and drove a truck for Scrivner Trucking. Bill even partnered with his son-in-law Jack, managing an Ostrich and Emu farm. Bill was a man of great faith and a longtime member of the 7th & Monroe Church of Christ, where he served as a Deacon. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband and father, grandfather, uncle and a true friend. He will be dearly missed!

He was preceded in death by: His parents, Claudie and Florence Stone and His brother, Lloyd Stone.

Bill is survived by: His loving wife, Iva of the home; Daughter, Kathy Akers and husband Jack of Purcell; Son, Curtis Stone of Pueblo, Colorado. Sister, Carolyn Boland of Florence, OR; 2 grandchildren, Chelsea Box and husband Billy Bob of Yukon, who are expecting the 1st great grandchild and Bayleigh Akers of Canyon, Texas; And a host of other family and friends. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.
