Ronnie Skaggs, age 73 of Lexington, passed away Friday March 27, 2015.

Ronnie was born June 29, 1941 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the 4th of 5 children born to Edgar Rube Skaggs and Ozie Ellie (Morris) Skaggs. Ronnie was raised in the Purcell area and attended school there. He married his best friend and soul mate, Barbara Ann Smith on March 7, 1964 in Oklahoma City. They made their home in Purcell the first two years, but then returned to the City and made it home for nearly 22 years. Together they raised two sons, Ron and Don. Ronnie worked for Carey Lumber Co. for more than 20 years, retiring as Yard Foreman. Ronnie later started a roofing company, Ron’s Roofing and owned and operated it for nearly 25 years. In 1987, Ronnie and Barbara moved to Sulphur and lived there until 1996 when they purchased an acreage east of Lexington. Ronnie cherished his family. He was a wonderful husband and father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a good friend. He was an avid outdoorsman and never missed an opportunity to go camping or fishing. Ronnie was a longtime and faithful member of the Iron Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. He will be dearly missed!

He was preceded in death by: His wife, Barbara Ann Skaggs in 2011; His parents, Edgar Rube and Ozie Skaggs and 3 brothers, Thurman, Jim and Allen.

Ronnie leaves behind: His sons, Ron Skaggs and wife Melissa of Lexington and Don Skaggs and wife Dawn of Abilene, TX; His sister, Norma Green and husband Ray of Maysville; 3 grandchildren, Kevin, Kristen and Robin; Several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at the Iron Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.
