Richard “Rick” Peyton Sherman age 55 of Lexington, passed away after a brief illness on Friday, September 18, 2015 at O.U. Medical Center in OKC.

Rick was the youngest of two children and the only son born to Richard Peyton Sherman Sr. and Shirley Jean (Beller) Sherman. At the age of 12, his family moved to California where he later graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1978 in San Bernardino. While in high school, Rick played baseball and was an excellent student. It was in high school that he developed a love for computers that lead to his lifelong profession as a software engineer. While living in California, Rick married his best friend, Donna Jean Savas on January 25, 1987. At the young age of 27, Rick became Vice President of Data Bits in Orange, California and later worked for JPL in Pasadena, Calif. After moving to Oklahoma in 1996, he began working for CGI Technologies whom he worked for at the time of his death. Rick had a deep love for music. He played the guitar, the bass and was involved in the praise band at his church. He also wrote many songs and for years was involved in his wife’s guitar teaching, where he set up the stage for recitals. He was an avid OU football fan and he had a love for Harley motorcycles. He will be remembered as a great family man and a dear friend to all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by: Grandmother, Katherine Metcalf; Father, Richard Peyton Sherman, Sr.;

He is survived by: Wife, Donna of the home; Mother & Stepfather, Shirley Gibbs and husband Timothy of Harrah; 3 Sons, Rickey Bailey and wife Darla of Cape Girardeau, MO, Peyton Sherman of Lexington, Levi Sherman of Lexington; 1 Sister, Angela Thomas of Harrah; 6 Grandchildren, Lyndsay Hilgert and husband Mathis, Tiffany Bailey, Jordon Gray, Elizabeth Hughes, Kalissa Hughes and Erika Hughes; 2 Great Grandchildren, Logan & Audrey; Several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Ashlie Thomas; Also many loving Aunts, Uncles, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Lexington. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell. Arrangements by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell. Send online condolence @wilsonlittle.com
