Geraldine “Dean” Pannell, age 85 of Plano, and formerly of Lexington, passed away Monday, September 25, 2017. Geraldine Lucille Nitzel was born November 19, 1931 in Maysville, OK, the youngest of 6 daughters born to James Opal Nitzel and Gertrude Margaret (Foster) Nitzel. She grew up southwest of Purcell near the Stealey Community. She attended Wayne Schools, graduating with the Class of 1949. On July 3, 1949, Geraldine married her best friend and the love of her life, Kenneth Pannell. They settled in Lexington where together they raised 3 daughters, Fredda, Ramona and Kim. Geraldine worked as a Clerk for both T G &Y and Wal-Mart for many years. Her greatest joy however was being a wife and mother. Geraldine cherished her family and especially her grandchildren and the Thunder! She was a longtime and faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Lexington. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by: Her husband, Kenneth “Papa” Pannell; 2 daughters, Fredda Bolser and Kim Pannell; Her parents, James and Gertrude Nitzel and 5 sisters, Mary Garrett, Jimmy Logan, Irma Lee Ferguson, Virgie Lampkin and Kathryn Driskill. 1 grand daughter, Rachel Jade Traverse

Geraldine is survived by: Her daughter, Ramona Traverse and husband Cliff of Plano, TX; 4 grandchildren, Jason Vinson and wife Lindsay, Brian Vinson and wife Erin, Austin Traverse and wife Rachel, and Aubrey Bennett and husband Carver; 7 great grandchildren; Tristan, Kambrie, Adriean, Brian Michael Louis, Drake, Bayler and Blaykleigh Vinson; one brother-in-law, Tom Garrett of Maysville. Many nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to a Missionary organization – Catalysts International code DCLO-601 in the memo line. Then mail to Catalysts International, P.O. Box 3296 McKinney, TX 75070-8185

Family will gather Tuesday evening for a viewing from 5-7pm at Wilson-Little Funeral Home.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at the First Baptist Church in Lexington. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell
