Peggy J. Owens, age 87 formerly of Wayne, OK, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015, at the Stage Coach Senior Living in Magnolia, Texas.

Peggy Joan Shaver was born March 5, 1928 in Wayne, OK, 1 of 3 children born to Ralph Steven Shaver and Minnie (Hindman) Shaver. She was raised in Wayne and attended Wayne Schools, graduating in 1946. Peggy married her best friend and soul mate, Ivan Owens on January 1, 1947 in Oklahoma City. They made their home in Wayne where together they raised their daughter, Cindy. For more than 25 years, Peggy worked for Sherry Classic in Purcell as a buyer and a sample maker, all the while, helping Ivan on the farm. Her greatest joy however was being a wife and mother, caring and providing for her family. Peggy loved to quilt and was a past member and winner of many honors of both the Oklahoma City and Norman Quilting Guild. She was a longtime and faithful member of the Wayne Methodist Church.


She was preceded in death by: Her husband, Ivan Owens; Her parents, Ralph and Minnie Shaver, Her sister, Geneva Corbin and Her brother, Jack Shaver.

Peggy leaves behind: Her daughter, Cindy Gentry and husband Tom of Cypress, TX; Granddaughter, Jennifer Murchison and husband Jimmy and their sons, Spence, George and Jack, All of Houston, TX; A host of other family and friends.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for 10:30 A.M., Monday, March 30, at Wilson-Little Funeral Home.
