WILSON-LITTLE FUNERAL HOME
PURCELL-NEWCASTLE, MCCLAIN CO, OK

(permission granted)

Dorothy V. McBroom, age 91, beloved matriarch of the McBroom family, ascended into heaven Friday, January 3, 2020.

She was born March 30, 1928 in Harlingen, TX to Russell and Hattie (Kobel) Bingley. Dorothy enjoyed a distinguished career in nursing at Norman Regional Hospital. After her retirement, she continued to provide nursing care for family and friends in her community. She was involved in McClain County Home Extension, and traveled with the OU Professor Student Organization. She also volunteered for years at the Trinity United Methodist Church preparing countless meals for the local Rotarians. She loved traveling and traveled the world abroad. Dorothy was an amazing cook, loved tending to her yard and was an avid reader. Family was her absolute top priority. Known by most as “Granny”, Dorothy always opened her home as a sanctuary and a fun house. And not only to her grandchildren and other family, but to everyone. She was kind hearted; a sweet and genuine lady, and she will be dearly missed!

She is survived by her children:

          Tanya Herell, Purcell, OK;

          Sandra Farha and husband Emile of OKC, OK;

          Terry McBroom and wife Sandra of Oklahoma City, OK;

          Shelly McBroom of the home;

Her brother, Russell “Chris” Bingley and wife Mary of Cody, WY;

Four grandchildren, Christina Duthie and husband, Nick of OKC;

                             Robbie Goodman of Chicago, IL;

                             Tommie Herell and wife Shawna of Norman, OK;

                             Savanah McBroom of OKC, OK, and

Seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband, W.L. “Mack” McBroom, a prominent local rancher.

The family wishes to thank all the friends and medical staff for the out pouring of love and affection toward their mother. May you all live as long, as wonderful and as blessed a life as Granny, and celebrate each and every day.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery.
