Melvan Lee Martin, age 64, of Purcell passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023.

Melvan was born June 16, 1959 in Okla. City, the youngest of 10 children born to Ben and Obbie Dee (Walker) Martin. He lived most of his life in Purcell and attended Purcell schools.

Melvan did masonry work and cabinet building for a time, and later worked as a custodian for Walmart. He enjoyed building model planes and collecting hot wheels, and never missed an opportunity to go fishing. A great son, brother, uncle and a true friend; he was loved greatly and will be missed.

Melvan was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Obbie Dee (Walker) Martin; two sisters, Margie Jones and Gwendolyn Taylor; five brothers, Emmit Martin, Ben Martin Jr., Jeff Martin, Elbert Martin and Willie Martin; four sisters-in-laws, Lois Martin, Evelyn Martin, Sheryl Martin and Dee Martin; and 2 brothers-in-laws, James Taylor and Edward Earl Jones Sr.

He is survived by his three brothers, O.C. and wife Cha of Lawton, Horace and wife Sherry of Purcell, and Tony Martin of Springtown, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Lena Martin of Purcell, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and love ones.

Family and friends will gather 11:00 AM, Friday November 17, 2023 at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell. www.wilsonlittle.com
