Pinkie Johnson, age 98, of Tulsa, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015, at the Saint Simeons Health Care Center in Tulsa.

Pinkie Ester Hudson was born February 20, 1917, in Purcell, OK, 1 of 10 children born to James Edward Hudson and Katie Kathryn (Lloyd) Hudson. She grew up in Purcell and later moved to Oklahoma City, to stay with her Aunt Mary Hudson Stokes, to complete her high school education. She graduated from Douglas High School and then attended Langston University. It was here that she met the love of her life, Bernice Vernon “BV” Johnson. They fell in love and were married and they made their home primarily in Columbus, OH. At this time, Pinkie worked as a voucher examiner for the Federal Government. She also traveled with BV extensively as he taught chemistry and lectured at Universities all of the United States. They retired in Columbus, OH before settling back in Oklahoma in 1978, when BV’s health began to decline. Pinkie spent more than 15 years as An Associate Office Administrator for Northeast High School in Oklahoma City, before retiring for good. Pinkie moved to Tulsa in 2012, to be closer to her niece, Nina Jones, after her health began to fail. And although she never had any children, Pinkie was a mother to many. Pinkie loved the Lord and she professed Christ as a child at the First Baptist Church Santa Fe in Purcell. She lived her life as a faithful and devoted Christian. She was a longtime member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Oklahoma City where she served in many capacities. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by: Her husband, BV Johnson; Her parents, James and Katie Kathryn Hudson; 5 sisters,Maggie Thompson, Camile Hudson, Pearl Mitchell, Virgie Carter and Alene Darrington and 4 brothers,Tony, James, Robert and Baby Boy Hudson.

Pinkie leaves behind: Her niece and cargiver, Nina C. Jones and family of Tulsa; Several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and a host Of other family and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday May 9, 2015, at the First Baptist Church Santa Fe in Purcell. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home. Send online condolences at wilsonlittle.com
