Funeral services for CD Hamit of Purcell,  were held at 10 a.m. on  Feb
1. 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Purcell, Okla.  Rev. Kent Wooster
officiated.  

Interment was at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home. 

 
He was born on  May 14,  1937 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Carl and Golda
(Gunter) Hamit and passed from this life on Wednesday,  Jan 27,  2016 in
Oklahoma City.
 
CD grew up and attended school in C-Chapel and Bradley, Okla.  On Dec 28,
1956, he and Melva Bunch were married.  They were together for 46
years until her death in 2003.
 
He worked for the Soil Conservation Service in Wagoner and McAlester.
The family then moved to Kiowa, where he bred, raised and trained race
horses.  In 1976, they moved back to Lindsay where he was the ranch
manager at Poteet Ranch, until 1987.
 
CD also worked as a bail bondsman in the Purcell area and enjoyed the
many friendships he developed during his time in the horse industry.
 
Survivors include his three sons, Curtis Hamit and his wife,
Donna, of Wayne, Okla., Kevin Hamit and his wife, Blakeley, of Wayne,
Okla., Kent Hamit and his wife, Lisa of Newcastle, Okla.; two daughters,
Kristie Parent of Kiowa, Okla., and Karla Mitchell and her husband, Ken,
of Mustang, Okla.; two sisters, Joan Branch and her husband, Bryan, of
Lindsay, Okla., and Ella Carr of Wewoka, Okla.; one brother H. F.
"Buster" Hamit and his wife, Cathy, of Lindsay, Okla.; seven
grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
 
He was preceded in death by his wife, Melva; his parents, Carl and
Dolda Hamit and his sister, Ruth Rayburn.
