L.D. Meeks

November 6, 1917 - April 9, 2011

L.D. (Lee Debs) eeks of Marietta, OK, was born November 6, 1917, at Ryan, OK, the son of William Gideon and Annie Moriah Humphries Meeks. He passed away Saturday, April 9, 2011, in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta, at the age of 93.

A farmer and carpenter, Mr. Meeks had been a resident of Love County most of his life. He and Opal Estaline Willis were married at Enville, OK, on January 13, 1941, and she preceded him in death on October 8, 2009. Mr. Meeks attended Enville Elementary School and Thackerville High School. He enjoyed farming, caring for his cattle and carpentry work, especially making small things. He was a member of the Covenant of Grace Church in Marietta.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Meeks was preceded in death by his parents; great-granddaughter, Lynzi Faith Hockersmith; and four brothers, Gerald Meeks, Millard Meeks, Haskell Meeks and Wilbur Meeks. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and JoAnn Meeks of Elkton, VA; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Bill Ivey of Salem, SC and Barbara and Earl Wright of Marietta; sister, Mae Willis of Wichita Falls, TX; four grandsons and their wives, Lynn and Shari Hockersmith, Lance and Kim Hockersmith, Anthony and Kelly Hunnicutt and Timothy and Heather Hunnicutt; and 11 great-grandchildren, Brooke Hockersmith, Bridgit Hockersmith, Allyson Hockersmith, Hannah Hockersmith, Macailyn Hockersmith, Sadie Hockersmith, Ansley Moore, Ander Hunnicutt, Aidan Hunnicutt, Seth Hunnicut and Breanna Hunnicutt.

Casket bearers will be Lynn Hockersmith, Lance Hockersmith, Timothy Hunnicutt, Bill Ivey, Winston Warthen and Caleb Fincher. Honorary bearers are Anthony Hunnicutt and Earl Wright.
