Services for Dolph Eugene "Brown" Hagood, Jr. were Monday at 2:00 p.m. in Watts Memorial Chapel, Madill, with Don Williams officiating.
Born May 2, 1920, in Courtney, Mr. Hagood died January 8, 1993, in a Denison, Texas, hospital at the age of 72. He was the son of the late Dolph E. and Ruth Hagood.
Mr. Hagood was reared in Courtney and graduated from Orr High School. He married Melba Furrh on March 6, 1940, in Gainesville, Texas, and worked in the oil fields for several years before purchasing the store in Lebanon in 1958. Besides owning and operating the grocery and bait house, he was a farmer and rancher while living in Lebanon. Mr. Hagood was a school bus driver for several years and a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Melba Hagood of the home in Lebanon; two sons, Ronnie Joe Hagood of Ardmore and Randy Hagood of Lebanon; two daughters, Barbara Ruzicho of Columbus, Ohio, and Kay Muncrief of Madill; a brother, Mick Hagood of Healdton; two sisters, Choc McKinnon and Mary Jo Butler of Ringling; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hagood was preceded in death by a brother, D.G. Hagood.
Arrangements were under the direction of Watts Funeral Home of Madill with interment in the Lebanon Cemetery. Assisting as pallbearers were Don Birks, Roger Kilgariff, Alan Parrish, Kenneth Pennington, Dale Brown, and Craig Moore. Honorary bearers included R.L. Rushing, A.A. Jeffrey, I.C. Cox, Robert Shilling, Billy John Rhodes, and Robert Teague.
