Roy Lee Brown

brown-r-l

September 24, 1933 ~ April 10, 2026

Roy Lee Brown was born into the family of Henry and Agnes (Bartel) Brown September 24, 1933 in a farmhouse northwest of Fairview, Oklahoma. He was ushered into his heavenly home on April 10, 2026.

At the age of 12 while attending a revival meeting he put his trust in the gospel message of Jesus Christ and was saved, baptized, and became a member of the Mennonite Brethren Church. Roy attended a one room schoolhouse for his elementary education . He attended Fairview High school for 2 years and then Corn Bible Academy. There he discovered his love of singing in 4 part harmony. After 2 years at Tabor college, Roy was ready to put the books on the shelf and step into his farming career. It was a career he enjoyed until his retirement in 2021. Roy also had a second career as a carpenter and worked on many businesses and homes around Fairview.

Roy and Donna Bartel were married July 9, 1954 and began their journey together on a farm southwest of Fairview. Roy was drafted into the army. He completed his tour of duty in Korea as a chaplain's assistant. Roy was grateful for his dad who had kept things going in his absence. Roy soon became a member of the MB Church quartet, with whom he sang for the next 40 years. Singing and music were an important part of his fellowship with God. He also served the church in many other capacities. He had many treasured Bible verses, including Proverbs 3:5-6 and John 3:16.

After 10 years, daughter Pam, became a member of the family. As soon as she was old enough to reach the tractor clutch pedal and see over the steering wheel, Roy designated her his number one tractor driver.

2012 was a challenging year with his wife Donna's cancer diagnosis. She was taken to her heavenly home in 2013. Church, family and friends helped him through these hard times. In February of 2017, bounce returned to his step when he and Nelda Kuntz were married. He and Nelda enjoyed traveling and took MANY trips to Branson with Nelda driving and Roy complaining all the while there should be a shorter route to Branson.

Preceding Roy in death were his parents, his wife, Donna and brother, Ruben Brown and his wife Irma. Surviving Roy is his wife, Nelda Brown, his daughter, Pamela, and her husband Curtis, his grandson Cody, and his wife, Chloe and their five children, John, Ryan, Wyatt, Laney and George and stepchildren, Valerie and Doug and their families.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at the Fairview M.B. Church with Pastor Travis Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow at the North M.B. Cemetery under the direction of Pierce Funeral Home, Fairview. Visitation will be Monday evening with the family present from 6-7 p.m. at Pierce Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Fairview M.B.
