Pablo Zapata, age 80, of Hollis, passed away Friday, May 4, 2012, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital, in Altus. Mr. Zapata was born in New Braunfels, Texas on January 28, 1932, to Remijio and Petra (Ortiz) Zapata. As a teenager, Pablo moved to Rockwood, Texas and later to Colorado, where he married Rosey Ortiz, in 1955 and she preceded him in death in 2001. In 1955, they moved to Hollis where Pablo worked for several farmers throughout the years.

Preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three sisters and two brothers.

He is survived by two sisters, Maria Rosales of Lakin Kansas and Petrita Gutierrez of Lubbock, Texas and three brothers Anastacio Zapata of San Marcos, Texas, Sammy Zapata of Lubbock, Texas and Refugio Zapata of Hobart, Oklahoma along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.


Funeral services for Pablo Zapata will be at 2 p.m., Monday, May 7, 2012 at the Harmon County Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Sally Saldana officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home of Hollis.
