Warner "June" Merse Watson, Jr., age 82, of Hollis, passed away Tuesday morning, June 12, 2012, at Harmon Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Watson was born on November 27, 1929, in Amherst, Texas to Warner Merse Watson, Sr. and Eliza Elizabeth (Mangis) Watson. As a small child, June moved to the La Casa Community, with his family. Attending Gould School for two years, June later attended La Casa School and shortly before graduating, he entered the United States Army. While home on furlough, he married Mary McLaughlin, the love of his life, on March 21, 1951, and she preceded him in death on January 2, 1998. After their wedding, he was sent to Korea to serve his country. The family lived in Amarillo for a short time where June was employed by the Airport Fire Department. They later moved back to Hollis where June owned and operated James Service Station and later James Flowers. A man who loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren, June enjoyed an occasional game of dominoes and spent many hours volunteering for the Herman Jones VFW Post 8676, where he was a proud member.
Preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers, E.W. Watson, Glendle (Dolph) Watson and Jessie Lloyd Watson, he is survived by two sons, Eddie Watson and wife Jeannine of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Danny Watson and wife Dorrie of Hollis; seven grandchildren, Christopher Lynn Watson, Steven Watson, Stephannie Ranae Stone, James Kyle Watson, Samantha Ann Watson, Dawson Joe Watson and Cody Nicholas Watson; four great grandchildren, Rylee Stone, Jaxon Stone, Zach Watson and Josh Watson; one sister, Joyce Jeter and husband Jack of Clovis, New Mexico; one brother, Ben Watson of El Paso, Texas along with many other relatives and friends.
