Edith Keith, age 94, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the Quality Care Hospice in Midwest City, Oklahoma.

Born Nov 24, 1922 to parents Will and Cora Duckworth. She was born in the home which was 2 miles north of the Ron schoolhouse. She was the 4th child in the family and started to school at the Teacross School, north of Hollis. Quantrell Tucker was the principal and Ruth Fancher was her first teacher. When Edith was in the 4th grade the family of eight children and parents moved to Vinson where she attended until she graduated from high school. Edith was valedictorian of her senior graduating class. She then attended Cameron College in Lawton for a short time. She and a friend, Alma Holder, moved to California to be with Edith’s brother there. While in California, Edith and Alma worked for the naval air station in Alameda, California. Edith returned to Oklahoma and began work at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City. On her first return visit to Hollis to visit her parents she met W.J. (Dub) Keith and they began dating. She and Dub were married in Oklahoma City, and found a home in the Arnett community. Dub began farming. Edith and Dub continued to live in Harmon County and Dub rented land from his Uncle Raymond Keith and Raymond built a new home next to his home six miles north of Hollis for Dub and Edith. While living there two children were born, Nancy and Kendell. When it was time for Nancy to start to school, Dub bought a housing lot in Hollis and a new house was built there. Both Nancy and Kendell graduated from Hollis High School in 1967 and 1969. Edith and Dub lived in Hollis until Dub passed away in 1986. Edith lived in Hollis until 2012 and thereafter lived in assisted living facilities in Weatherford and Mustang Oklahoma.
