Eugene Francis Dunn, age 90, a longtime resident of Hollis, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Harmon Memorial Hospital in Hollis. Eugene was born in Glover Missouri on May 12, 1923 to William and Gertrude (Hesston) Dunn.

Eugene served his country in the United States Air Force during WWII and on October 21, 1944 he married Frankie Penington and they were married for over 65 years before Frankie’s death in 2009. Eugene worked as an Aviation Mechanic at Tinker Air Force Base for 30 years and retired in 1973. After retiring the family moved to Hollis where he ran Gene’s Antiques and he worked for Harmon Memorial Hospital and where he also retired. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, traveling with Frankie in their RV, going to the casino, and spending time with his family.

Preceded in death by his wife Frankie; his parents, William and Gertrude Dunn; one brother, Arthur Dunn; and one sister, Doris Reed.

Eugene is survived by three sons, Robin Dunn and wife Belinda of North Carolina; Doyal Dunn and wife Chikako of Arizona; Keith Dunn and wife Ruth of Ft. Worth, Texas; two daughters, Joyce Rippetoe of Alaska; Barbara Defoor and husband Keven of Hollis; one sister, Anna Mae Ripple of Missouri; seventeen grandchildren, Celeste, Kevin, Ben, Naomi, Joseph, Jodie, Jonas, Benjamin, Jonathan, Tyler, Maya, Emily, Caleb, Ian, Sadie, Sarah, and Sam; fifteen great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 24, 2014 from 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm at Harmon County Funeral Home in Hollis;

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Hollis Church of Christ with James Berry officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis with Military Honors under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home.
