Ardena Nell Coward, age 73, of Borger, Texas, passed away Monday afternoon, February 7, 2011, at Midwest Regional Medical Center in Midwest City, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Coward was born on January 3, 1938, in Hollis, Oklahoma to Thomas and Verna (Hayes) Prock. While attending Hollis School, she met Chester Clyde Coward in February 1955, after he returned from service. After six months of courtship, on August 21, 1955, they were married in the home of Ardena’s parents. Moving to Borger, Texas, where Chester worked for Phillips Petroleum, they spent the next fifty-five wonderful years together until Ardena’s untimely death. Canning of all sorts, cooking, baking pecan pies, crocheting, embroidering and reading Christian books were some of her favorite pastimes, but spending time with her family was what brought the most joy to her life.
Preceded in death by her parents and two great grandchildren, Alyssa Norman and MacKenzie Norman, she is survived by her husband, Chester, of the home, in Borger, Texas; three children, Tom Coward and wife Karen of Oklahoma City, Teresa Wiant and husband Randal of Monmouth, Illinois and Bart Coward and wife Teresa of Borger; six grandchildren, Ryan Coward of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Valarie Brazelton and husband Kevin of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Jarrod Norman and wife Shawna of Greeley, Colorado, Shane Wiant and wife Amber of Greeley, Colorado, Michael Coward of Boger, Texas and Bradley Coward of Borger, Texas; two great grandchildren, Bailey Brazelton of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Jessica Wiant of Greeley, Colorado; one twin sister, Mardena Paxton of Edmond, Oklahoma along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Ardena Coward will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 12, 2011, at Harmon County Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home in Hollis.
