Walter F. Smith services Monday

Walter F. Smith, 76, died Friday in an Anthony, Kansas, hospital. His death was sudden, although he had been in failing health the past few years.

Born in Burlington Junction, Missouri, Mr. Smith moved to Oklahoma in 1894, living in the Wakita community for 27 years before moving to the Texas panhandle. A week ago he moved to Anthony to live with his nephew Dale Smith.

Survivors include a niece, Mrs. Robert Kretchmier, Medford; one nephew, Dale Smith, Anthony, and a sister – in – law, Mrs. Francis, Kansas, and a sister – in – law, Mrs. Francis Smith, Medford.

Services will be held at 2 PM Monday in the Wakita Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Hobson officiating, assisted by the Rev. Howard Roberts. Burial will follow in the Wakita Cemetery, arrangements by the Thomas funeral home.
