Funeral Services for Debra (Debbie) Sue Spoonemore, 63, of Pond Creek, will be 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at the First Baptist Church, Pond Creek. Interment will be in the Pond Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, October 24, 2022, at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, Pond Creek, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Debbie was born on January 14, 1959, in Enid, OK, to Benjamin and Mildred Gibson and passed away peacefully in her home, with her family by her side, on Wednesday, October 19, 2022.
She married Dale Spoonemore in Enid, OK, on September 9, 1978, where they lived for a short time before returning to Pond Creek, where they made their home and raised their three children. Debbie delivered the Enid News and Eagle for nearly 28 years until her illness no longer allowed her to do so. She was recognized as Carrier of the Year in 2021. She enjoyed serving her customers with top-notch delivery service and enjoyed her daily, morning conversations with several of her customers. She made many friends during those 28 years. Her and Dale owned a lawn care business for many years, and she also worked for the Pond Creek Cemetery Association.
"Nana," as she was known by, cared for and loved many children throughout her lifetime. In fact, anytime you would see her out and about, she always had a grandchild by her side. She loved her family deeply and never let her illness stand in the way from being there for each and every one of them. She always worried about everyone else and was a selfless person. If asked, "How are you feeling today?" her reply would always be, "I'm fine." Nurses and care staff over the past three years told each of us just how kind, caring, and extremely tough she was. She fought such a courageous battle with ovarian cancer and will always be remembered by her family and friends as being a true fighter who never gave up.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dale Spoonemore; mother, Mildred Kesler; stepfather Jim Kesler; grandmother, Mary Dayton; twin sister, Barbara Lou; sister, Elane Skaggs; one niece; one nephew; and many aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her daughters, Denita Francisco of Pond Creek, Heather and Buddy Boeckman of Fairview, and Lena Spoonemore of Pond Creek; sisters, Emma Gibson, Sheryl and Dennis Brittain, Louise Baker, Patricia and Patrick Eastes, and Christal Osborn; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Pond Creek Cemetery Association, in care of Wilson Funeral Home, or online to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance at https://give.ocrahope.org/DebSpoonemore.
