Pond Creek Cemetery



Funeral services for Vincent Robert Melott, of Enid, formerly Pond Creek, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, Pond Creek. The Rev. Sherry Shaw and Rev. Jeff Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Pond Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek. Visitation will be Friday 5-7 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home.

Vincent was born June 10, 1916, to Virgil and Velma Leah Hanan Melott in the Hodges farmhouse Jefferson, OK. He died in Enid on December 31, 2007, at his home.

He graduated from Pond Creek High School in 1935. He married Ida Mae Wells on July 26, 1941 in Church of Christ, Enid. They farmed in Pond Creek and Jefferson community many years. He was a member of First Christian Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and director, and Men’s Garden Club.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Melott.

Survivors are his wife, Mae of the home; one son, David and Donna Melott, Enid; three daughters, Ann and Dan Clark, Muskogee, Karen and Tom Ryan, Pryor, OK, Debra and Steve Meritt, Pond Creek; five grandchildren, Michelle and Hugh Kimball, Enid, Aaron and Pavi Ryan, Alexandria, VA, Robert and Melanie Marshall, Muskogee, Adam Ryan, Los Angeles, CA, Michael and Sherry Melott, Lavon, TX; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. He is also survived by one brother, George Melott, Enid; two sisters, Alice Maude Herrell, Wichita, KS, Nita Anderson, Prairie Village, KS.

Memorials may be made to First Christian Church; O.M.R.F. Cancer or Heart Research, or Hospice Circle of Love. Memorials may be sent to Wilson Funeral Home, Box 478, Pond Creek, OK 73766.
