Funeral for Beryl Eugene Kindred will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2015, at Pond Creek United Methodist Church. T he Rev. George M. Lupton will officiate. Interment will follow in Pond Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek.

Beryl Eugene Kindred was born April 16, 1925, in Jefferson, Okla., to Roy Earl and Josephine (Schmitz) Kindred. He passed away May 7, 2015, in Enid, Okla.

Beryl graduated from Jefferson High School in 1943. He entered the service in July 1943.

He graduated from Washington State University in Pullman, Wash., with an associate’s degree in aeronautical engineering while on active duty.

Sgt. Beryl Kindred was honorably discharged from the 2518th Army Air Force Oct. 21, 1945.

He held the occupation of an aerial gunner. He was part of the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. He earned several decorations and citations during his service.

Beryl married Shirley Tanton in Jefferson, Okla. Nov. 25, 1945.

He started farming in the Jefferson area and remained a prominent farmer until his death. He served on numerous boards in the community. He hunted and fished, and he loved the outdoors. He was a member of Pond Creek United Methodist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Lynn Kindred; and sister and brother-in-law, Berniece and Bob Bradley.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, Richard, and his wife, Carlan, of Blackwell, Okla.; daughter-in-law, Sheron Kindred, Pond Creek, Okla.; four grandchildren, David Kindred, Tulsa, Okla., Brian Kindred and his wife, Nunu, Murfreesboro, Tenn., Jennifer and her husband Chris Clark, of Mounds, Okla., and Russell Kindred of Pond Creek, Okla.; two great-grandchildren, Aaron Kindred, Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Carsyn Clark, Mounds, Okla.

Memorials may be made, in care of Wilson Funeral Home, to Pond Creek Cemetery Association, Ross Home Health or Disabled American Veterans.
