The Funeral Service for Errol Ray "Spanky" Czapansky will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, August 13, 2023, at the Grant County Expo Center, in Pond Creek. Pastor Les Washnock will officiate. Internment follows in Pond Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. Saturday, August 12, at Wilson Funeral Home.
Errol was born January 22, 1961, in Enid, OK, to Ray Grant and Lola Fern "Day" Czapansky and passed from this life on August 8th, 2023, at 4:19 p.m. at lntegris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Errol was raised all his life in Pond Creek, where he graduated in 1980. After graduation he went to work at 18 years old at Great Lakes Carbon. He then married Denise Hannah on July 24th, 1982, in Lamont, OK. He was a welder and shift supervisor for Great Lakes/Oxbow Calcining until his retirement of 35 years in 2016.
Errol was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pond Creek. He loved his OU football. He was also extremely proud of his daughter, Holly, for being so independent in life and headstrong. He started her showing livestock at the age of 8 until she graduated, and he loved every minute of it until, of course, when it came time for her to back the trailer —still can't do it to this day. He was a coach and mentor from t-ball age until she aged out into school league. He enjoyed watching the athlete he created and was there for it all, always wanting her to be better than before. Most of all, he loved his grandkids, Conner and Payton; his eyes lit up every time Conner took the football field and he got to watch his all-star running back score touchdowns and be a part of the 2019 State Football Champions. He loved trying to help coach Payton in Softball and cheer her on in every sport and activity she was involved in; that's his girl.
Errol is survived by his wife Denise of the home; Daughter, Holly Czapansky and longtime boyfriend, Jeremy Steele; Grandson, Conner Ray Czapansky and girlfriend Riley Burnham; two Granddaughters, Payton Aubree Miller and Teegan Lee Steele; two brothers, Randy Czapansky and wife Loretta and their two children, Tiffani and Michael, and Sam Bentley and wife Teresa and their three children, Derek, Trinity and Tara; several Nieces and Nephews and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, many aunts and uncles, a great-nephew and a great-niece.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Errol's Grandchildren's Education.
