June 16, 1925 - April 20, 2020

Charles Bushnell from Jefferson, OK passed away April 20, 2020 at his son's home in Pond Creek. Charles Byron Bushnell was born June 16, 1925 in Madrid, New Mexico. He was the son of Hugh and Harriett May Fournelle Bushnell.

He and his family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he attended his grade school years. In 1939, Charles moved to Jefferson, OK to live with his Uncle Charles and Aunt Anna Farris. He attended high school at Jefferson, graduating in 1943. At this time, Charles was drafted into the Navy, and he served from 1943-1945 for our country during WWII.

Charles returned to Jefferson to farm with his Uncle. He met and then married Joan Shaffer in 1949 at the First Christian Church of Pond Creek. They bought a farm in 1951 across the road from the Bushnell homestead, where they lived for 69 years, raising five children, four boys and a girl.

Charles worked at the ASCS office in Medford for 30 years. After retiring, he then worked for John Ferris and then worked for his son Kevin Bushnell at Little B's. All through his years he also farmed. Charles loved antiques of all types. He collected coins and loved fishing and camping in Arkansas. Branson was favorite place for Charles and Joan to visit. He loved attending his grandchildren's many functions. On January 16th, 1999, Charles and Joan celebrated their 70th anniversary among family and friends at Golden Oaks.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Harriett; infant twin brother; sister, Shirley Brazel, and his son Carter.

Charles is survived by his wife Joan of the home; son Bruce and wife Barbara if Independence, KS; grandson Brent Bushnell and wife Cindy of Tulsa, OK; granddaughter Stephanie Bushnell of Fayetteville, AR; granddaughter Angie Webber of Independence, KS; grandson Justin Hickman of Independence, KS; son Mark Bushnell of Medford, OK; granddaughter Melisa Aebi and husband Tony of West Fork, AR; grandson Eric Bushnell and wife Lisa of Bixby, OK daughter Denise of Oklahoma City, OK; son Kevin Bushnell and wife Kim of Pond Creek, OK; grandson Tripp Bushnell and wife Leslie of Colleyville, TX; granddaughter Amanda Baker and husband Ryan of Oklahoma City, OK; granddaughter Paige Ward and husband Evan of Edmond, OK; grandson Tanner Bushnell of Pond Creek, OK; Charles is also blessed with 20 great grandchildren, a sister Mary Anna Bell of California, a brother Pearce Bushnell of Texas, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Accentra Healthcare Hospice, Pond Creek Ministerial Alliance, or Pond Creek Cemetery, with Wilson Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds. The family would like to lovingly thank Accentra Hospice, Home Health Care Enid, Champion Home Care, and the Pond Creek Ambulance.

A private graveside service will be held at the Pond Creek Cemetery on Friday, April 24th at 1:00 P.M., with Rev Hagen Jackson Officiating. We would love your presence from your car.
