POND CREEK — Rolland Ray Bliss, 82, Pond Creek, passed away Sunday, Aug. 21, 2016, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center, Enid. The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016, at Wilson Funeral Home, 227 E. Aspen, Pond Creek, with the Rev. Les Washnock officiating. Interment follows in Pond Creek Cemetery. Military rites are conducted by the United States Army Honor Guard.

Ray was born June 27, 1934, in Avard, to Ralph and Hazel (Alcorn) Bliss. Ray joined the United States Army in January 1957, and was discharged as a sergeant in January 1959. Ray settled in Caldwell, Kan., after his military service, and later on moved to Medford, then to his final residence in Pond Creek.

He enjoyed his job as an electrician. He then worked for Koch Oil, from which he retired. Between his work days, he enjoyed his hobby of tinkering with old cars and watching sports and old movies.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Reta Bliss; parents, Ralph and Hazel; brothers, Ralph, Max, Warren, John and Carol Bliss; and sisters, Gladys, Marqurete and Maxine Bliss.

Ray is survived by his sister, Martha Bliss-Jarvis, of Texarkana, Texas; his sister-in-law, Berta Bliss, of Carmen; three children from his second wife, Treva, Delene Thompson, of Shawnee; Mark Bliss, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Mardy Bliss, of Pond Creek; one stepchild with his late wife, Reta, Lisa Rollins-Godfrey; 10 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; along with many relatives and loved ones.
