Nash – The funeral for Alma Zander, 76, who died Monday evening in an Enid hospital, will be at 2 PM Thursday in the First Christian Church at Nash. The Rev. Leslie Hastings will officiate. Burial will be in New Home Cemetery at Nash under direction of Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek.

Mrs. Zander was born May 11, 1908, at Nash to James and Florence Shawley. She lived in the Nash area most of her life, moving to Enid in 1976. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Nash, the Order of the Eastern Star, Nash Senior Citizens and the Enid Senior Citizens.

Mrs. Zander had attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Alva, and had taught school for several years. She married Edward Zander December 26, 1927. He died November 26, 1971. She also was preceded in death by one son.

Survivors include two sons, Eddie Lee Zander, Enid, and Larry Zander, Nash; one daughter, Mrs. Don (Alma Dee) Hopkins, Ponca City; two brothers, Harold Shawley, Nash, and Vernon Shawley, St. David, Arizona; seven grandchildren; and one great – grandchild.

Memorials in her name may be made to the First Christian Church at Nash.
