The funeral for Wayne E. Morris will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2006, at First United Methodist Church, Lamont. The Rev. Kevin Watson and the Rev. Wayne Bland will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Rural Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek.

He was born July 29, 1921, on a farm near Pond Creek, Okla. to William A. and Lena Maude Millemon Morris and died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

He grew up in the Pond Creek area and graduated from Pond Creek High School in 1938 and entered the U.S. Army in August 1943 through the Italian and European Campaigns during World War II working in communications and was honorably discharged in July 1947, upon return working for Becker Oil Company in Enid.

He married Vivian D. Estes July 9, 1947, and moved to a farm near Billings in 1949. He farmed for several years and in the mid-1960s started working for the Clyde Co-op Association, retiring as manager in the early 1980s. After retirement he worked for several farmers in the Lamont area, including Frank and Kyle Kirby at the time of his death.

Surviving are his wife, Vivian of the home; three daughters, Diana and husband Wayne Bland and Nancy and husband Chuck Sandwick, of Enid, and Cynthia Morris of Lamont; 10 grandchildren, Zack and wife Kim Wad-dell of Ponca City, Kacy and husband Heath Wallace of Enid, Toby and wife Yvette Kennedy of Germany, Cassie and husband Chris Shaw of Dover, Gillian and husband Jamie of Australia, Adam Sandwick and Sheri Bland, both of Dallas, Texas, Bethany and husband Scott Blakemore of Bartlesville, and Joshua Sandwick and Shane Bland, both of Stillwater; and two great-grandchildren, Paul Shaw and Amanda McDonald.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Family visitation will be 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006, at First United Methodist Church, Lamont.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Lamont, Gideon’s or the memorial of donor’s choice.
