Lamont – The funeral for Helen Myrtle McGuinn, 98, a former resident of Lamont who died Thursday at Willow Haven Nursing Home in Tonkawa, will be at 2:30 PM Saturday at Lamont Baptist Church. The Reverends Bob Landis and Bob Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, near Salt Fork, directed by McCafferty – Bolick Funeral Home.
Helen M. Rose was born March 31, 1891, in Russell City, Kansas, and moved with the family to a farm near Luray, Kansas. In 1897, she moved with the family to Oklahoma, settling west of Lamont and attended different schools in Grant County. She also attended OCV School in Enid where she finished her music education. She taught voice and piano for 35 years. She married Tracy McGuinn in Walla Walla, Washington. He died November 8, 1951.
Surviving are two daughters, Sarah Prince of Lamont and May Talley of Grand Berry, Texas; one son, Frank of Escondido, California; seven grandchildren; and eight great – grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, one daughter and nine sisters and brothers.
