January 13, 1934 - February 7, 2021

With sadness we share the news of the passing of beloved husband, father, and grandfather Elwood “Lee” Cox. He will be laid to rest Thursday February 11, 2021 in the Hawley Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home

Lee was born January 13, 1934 to Ernest D. and Eula Cox in Nash, Oklahoma prematurely and was gently put in a small box and placed in the warming oven to help him survive the cold winter. He completed his life journey February 7, 2021 in Enid, Oklahoma. Lee was raised and educated in Nash until attending and graduating from high school in Wichita. He enlisted in the United States Navy. While stationed in San Diego, California he met his honey, Rosie and the couple was married February 14, 1960 in San Diego. After 20 years of honorable service in the US military, he moved his family to his family homestead just north of Nash Ok. He continued his service to his country as part of the civilian work force at Kegelman Air Force Auxiliary Field for the next five years.

He also served on the local fire department and in many other ways helped his community and fellowmen throughout his lifetime. After his retirement, he began a turtle trapping business providing fresh turtles to gourmet restaurants.

He also enjoyed his large organic garden and harvesting the fruit from his orchard.

He had a lifelong passion of hunting, fishing, and trapping. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years Rosetta, two sons Ralph Cox of Enid and Steven Cox of British Columbia, Canada (Shirley), grandsons Jonathan (Jennifer), (great grandchildren Jo-Ella, Kale and Sophia)and Morgan ,(Alexi ).

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Ruth survived by his brother Rex Cox.
